What is Camfrog?

Camfrog is a video chat program that is unmatched in video and audio performance. It is owned by Camshare LLC and thus the software and trademark are owned by that corporation. But all we really care about is that it rocks!

Camfrog consist of a network of various video chat rooms. Some rooms are owned by Camfrog. There are many independently owned Camfrog rooms. This is made up of individuals that buy the server software for $200. These people become known as room owners. These owners set their own rules. They may be 18 only rooms or they may not be. Most independently owned rooms are limited to 18 and above. Camfrog is meant to be an all inclusive community. Unlike Yahoo or MSN you don't ask to see someone's video, you go into the room and you may view any persons video. If you upgrade to the pro version of Camfrog, you can open more than one video. The number depends largely on your computer and your internet connection. Most people open 10 to 40 but it gets really hard to keep them all on your screen at once. The choice of who to look at can be rather difficult at times. As rooms are often filled with interesting things to look at here on Camfrog.

Besides video, there is a text box where text flows through the room for all to see. You can enter text in text box and then press enter and everyone in the chat room will see it.

There is also sounds, many of the rooms play music but they also use it to chat via the microphone.

What makes Camfrog froggy, is the all inclusive idea. Where everyone joins in on the chat. There are rules to follow, there's always etiquette expected in any chat area on the net. Each owner has his own ideas of what is right or wrong for their own rooms.

Camfrog can be a lot of fun, find a room you like, and make it your home. It make take a little time but you'll get to know all the regulars. If the room has a bulletin board or forum, visit the forum and post message. Talk on the mic and join in the text conversations. Before you know it, you'll be one of the Camfrog addicts. And if you find a room you like, support it with small donations. Most rooms close because the owners grow weary of the room members not sharing the cost of the room.

This page is primarily for historical purposes. Sickthing's Playthings was an awesome Camfrog room and was the best of what Camfrog could be. Some of us miss it a great deal. It is gone and not likely to return.
